Qu Appelle Valley Metis Journey Celebrated in Lebret
The Qu Appelle Valley Metis Journey wrapped up August 1 in Lebret Saskatchewan after starting July 20 at St. Madelines Metis Days near Binscarth. About 150 people welcomed the Trek at Fort Ellice with a live band while 75 locals gathered at Fort Esperance the next day. Trail boss Armand Jerome led a route tracing fur trade historic sites including Fort Ellice and Fort Esperance with support from First Nations bands and Métis locals who provided meals. The journey highlighted the valley as a key Métis historic site, noting that the Métis flag was first flown in 1815 on the way to Fort Esperance, recorded by Sutherland.

Adequate root reserves and timely regrowth are essential for winter survival and spring yield.
