Womens Missionary Society and W I Meetings Summary

The June meeting at Mrs Hornsby’s home drew large attendance. Mrs McCrae reported on the district convention and Mrs Howe and Mrs Watson from Winnipeg attended. The July gathering at Mrs James Rinen’s home and the August venue at Mrs James Rinen’s were noted with guests including Mr and Mrs Kern. Tea was served and remembrances exchanged before adjournment.

A possible W I service at Makaroff Church is discussed and attendance is hoped to be strong. Mrs N J Kerswell visits Buissevain with Mrs Phill McLennan and family. At the annual school meeting Mr Nogers moves to thank the retiring trustee for dedicated service, a first in record.

Farmers Busy Haying and Local Incidents Near Jack Fish Lake

Farmers are cutting barley and binding hay as weather permits. Mr. Jenry Jaansands reports daily mill operations turning logs into lumber. Mr. C Cooper has returned from Dauphin hospital and cannot work yet. Gilbert Plains visitors stay with the Merrells at their lake camp. A bear was shot after a nighttime sighting near Snowdon. seven feet long. Shortdale school picnic a success with greasy pig chasing ending in capture. Merrell escaped serious injury when his car overturned on Snowdon Hill. Baine aided rescue and bruised hip noted. Calls to widen the hill grade due to repeated accidents.
