Inter-City Gas To Erect $3,000 Office Building

Town of Roblin council met April 8 with Mayor F A Newton. Building permit for Inter-City Gas Utilities Limited to construct an office at an estimated cost of 3000 was approved. Court of Revision set for May 13, 1965. Two delegates to Community Development Course in Winnipeg were approved with expenses.

Spring 4-H Leaders Meeting Saint Mas onic Hall

The 4-H Leaders Association district held its spring planning meeting in Mas onic Hall on Tuesday March 12 with President Robin Watson presiding. Guests from Yorkton discussed the Saskatchewan 4-H program and club safety projects along with home economics and agricultural program planning.

Mr and Mrs N Leybourne of Brandon visited Mrs L Edwards last week. Word has been received of the passing of Mr David Gilbert of Toronto on Monday April 12. He was brother of the late Mr Fred Gilbert of Winnipeg. Mr Harvey Ballard returned home after wintering at Edmonton. Mr and Mrs George Miller of their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs A Allanson last week. Mr and Mrs Wm Yourchuk of Beausejour visited Ray Paulenko over the week end. Miss Hazel Mitchell selected to attend the 4H Youth Leadership Conference in Winnipeg April 19 to 22. The girls will register at Town House Motor Hotel with workshop sessions at the University of Manitoba Agricultural Auditorium. Congratulations Hazel.

Shell River Council Sets Tax Rates And Levies

Miss Shirley Wark Honored At Miscellaneous Shower

Miss Shirley Wark bride elect of May was guest of honor at a surprise miscellaneous shower in Knox United Church lower hall on April 13. Her mother Mrs Barkman and Mrs Randell received corsages on arrival. Contests were led by Mrs Alma Gordon and Mrs Mike P Yakimishyn. Donnie Cross delivered a mail bag of gifts. Shirley thanked the guests and a lunch followed to close the evening.

The April meeting of the Makaroff Women’s Institute was held at Mrs G Pound’s with five members and two visitors. Roll call noted “Pennoes for Friendship” for the convention. funds and minutes reviewed. Sunshine Committee reported 8 treats 1 card and flowers for a funeral. May meeting moved to May 7. two delegates and a board member to attend the convention. questions for the convention box accepted at next meeting. Funds for Red Cross reported at 29 dollars plus expected more. Sherryll Pound won the jackpot. lunch served by the hostess and Mrs J Curtis.

With sunshine and rain melting a long winter, water floods roads citywide. The Dropmore road is flooded and washouts feared while the Shell River runs at bank tops. The Assiniboine rose six feet midweek and overflows in low areas as ice breaks.
