Mrs Martha E Armistead of Silverwood died at home on March 29. Born in England in 1877, she married Albert Armistead there and, in 1902, they immigrated to Canada to pioneer and settle in Silverwood, where they worked to improve the community.

Obituary: Mrs Armistead Laid to Rest at Mount View
The community mourns the death of Mrs Armistead. She died after a long farming life, survived by two sons Wilks and Ernest, two daughters Ruth and Winnifred, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is mourned by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral held April 4 at Silver Wood Church with Rev Ames officiating. Burial followed at Mount View Cemetery. Pallbearers included MecGregor Davies Armistead Radford and Sneath Funeral Service led arrangements. The church was crowded with relatives and friends.

Born Treherne Manitoba 1898 he served in the 78th Infantry Battalion wounded in France 1917 and later farmed Roblin Silverwood Dauphin and Winnipeg before moving to Vancouver in 1955. He rests at Forest Lawn Cemetery Field of Honor Vancouver.
