Residents from Carman Saskatoon Winnipeg Calgary The Pas Flin Flon Virden and The Pas visit Riverbend relatives over Easter and March weekend events. Ronnie De La Mare returns from Roblin hospital and quilting plans at Mrs H Edels are canceled. Beloved local resident shares outbreak of health updates and family gatherings.
Gertrude Safronetz of Winnipeg visited at her parents Mr and Mrs Stan Safronetz at the start of the week. On Good Friday a surprise dinner party honored the 35th wedding anniversary of March 19 held at the parents' home, with extended families from Endcliff Rapid City and other towns. Easter Sunday visits included Mr and Mrs Herb Hansen of Flin Flon and Mr and Mrs Jack Haberstock with the George Ricker household.
Roblin area welcomes Roblin Greenhouse owned by Lawrence and Edith Andrews on Highway No. 5. The 16 by 48 foot building uses clear fibreglass panels and an oil furnace, holding 1400 trays for 12 plants each. This spring they offer vegetable bedding plants, flowering stock, potted geraniums, and hanging baskets sourced from Roy A Nichol son Ltd of Burlington.
Winnipeg residents visited family across Manitoba during Easter with numerous trips to Dauphin Roblin Yorkton and The Pas. Attendees include Donna Oliphant Janet Arnott Gertie Callon Bonnie Bruce Hazel Mitchell and many others sharing gatherings at parental homes and relatives across towns. Attendance at the funeral of Mrs F Y Newton drew visitors from multiple cities including Victoria Penticton Regina Winnipeg and Brandon.
Catherine Isabella Newton widow of F Y Newton died April 1 1969 in Roblin Manitoba at 89. Funeral April 5 at Roblin Knox United Church with Rev R P Hamlin officiating and Roblin Memorial Chapel arranging. Interment Roblin District Cemetery. Survived by two sons three daughters and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Miss Cheryl Lefiderbeck spent the weekend at her parents home. Mrs. C Filmore of Eason Alberta visited her daughter and son in law Norman Dixon and renewed acquaintances with locals. Easter visitors included Karen Wilson Winnipeg Dale Appel and girls Dauphin J Cryderman The Pas Morris Chiapin Snow Lake and others at Murray and Radford homes. Terry Radford visiting Lipton Sask Reg Framingham visited district relatives. Gerald Wilson family Flin Fion Owen Wilson Swan River visited their parents. Fred Framingham Noel visited R Browns Kamsack. Eleanor Lenderbeck Noel Framingham and Dennis Langevin attend a 4H Youth Leadership Course in Dauphin.
Two resignations from Trustees George Hunter Ward 4 and Charles Filewich Ward 3 were accepted with regret by the Board on March 27 1969. Nominations will be called by Returning Officer Stan Plewak Grandview.
A car owned by Mr. Erhardt Doering of Shevlin was stolen from main street in Roblin on Saturday April 5. Const. Peter Juba of Roblin recovered the vehicle in Timberton, Man., on Monday morning April 7. Charges are being laid.

Joseph Maillard of Ste. Rose Du Lac was elected President at the Parkland Regional Development Inc annual meeting held April 7 in Dauphin with over 80 attendees. New officers include J A Hilland, Art Kinney, Mike Szewczyk, and John Mitchell. board members for 1969 span Dauphin, Ethelbert, Grandview, Bowsman, Swan River, Benito, and Ochre River.
A three day hunter safety course was held at Roblin Memorial Hall March 25 26 and 27. Ninety three prospective hunters registered with sixty hours of instruction and a final exam. The Roblin Game and Fish Association and the Department of Mines and Natural Resources offered the program free. Instructor Bob Agar led, assisted by Bud Turner and Warren Minish. Ninety students completed the course and passed the examination.
On Tuesday April 8 at 8 a m Roblin had its first rain shower of the season. Sunshine and above freezing temperatures followed the rain as the snow melts. Streets dry and fields turn black across most areas, signaling seasonal transition.
The Ink Spots will appear in Roblin on April 17 presented by the Chamber of Commerce and the Kinsmen Club. Admission is $2 for adults and 50 cents for children 13 and under, with high school students selling tickets to earn their way in. The event aims to boost support for future live entertainment in the district.
We were informed by telephone that Dr. J Layng and Dr. R Paul will operate under the new Manitoba Medical Services Insurance Corporation plan which commenced April 1 1969.
