Jack Cox RCAF spent the weekend in town renewing acquaintances. Pte Ralph Brydon of Fort Garry visited Mr and Mrs Chas Brydon. Miss Reta McWhirter stayed in Winnipeg visiting her sister Cpl F F Robinson. Spr K A Adam of Fort Garry spent a weekend with his parents. Mrs R Grant who spent two months at Hearst Ontario returned home. Miss Martha Greenaway, fresh from Winnipeg General Hospital training, visits her parents. Set Pilot Geo Hartford of Halifax visited his sister Brenda en route to Vancouver. Benchers of Manitoba Law Society appointed C D G Barber for Dauphin Judicial District. Back The Attack is the slogan for the 4th Victory Loan. The drive to raise 1 1000 000 000 uses 14 year bonds at 3 percent and 31 year bonds at 134 percent.
Roblin and district contributed $2656.96 to the National Red Cross campaign which has just concluded. The success is credited to canvassers and citizen response with this week’s donations including Grainfield School Junior $8.41 Plett's Mill $83.50 and Sanders' Mill $56.50.
Last Friday evening the town held a charity bridge night at the Masonic Hall with 20 couples. Proceeds benefit the Soldiers Parcels Fund while players enjoyed social games and a graded elimination series. Consolation winners were Mrs Cameron and Mrs T Kelso. second prize to Mr and Mrs Maslove. The eight top couples advance to a April 13 home round hosted by Mr and Mrs Heming. entry 25 cents per person goes to the same fund.
Merle Howe and Pilot Officer James Ritchie wed at Rosedale United Church Manse in Winnipeg with Rev. Warren Rothwell officiating. The couple, of Manitoba families, soon toured Roblin and then Toronto and east. The bridesmaid wore mustard yellow. the best man was Bruce Arnott. Other notes mention a Cromarty W1 sale April 24 and Jack Sprout’s graduation to Pilot Officer.
