Parish priest Fr. Patrick Powalinsky blesses baskets at St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Calder on Easter weekend. The baskets hold items banned during Lent such as eggs, meat, butter, and breads, symbolizing the end of the fast as the community observes Easter.
Roblin's Canadian Foodgrains Bank venture receives a formal title the Roblin Foodgrains FAITH Project. The FAITH acronym stands for Feeding And Inspiring The Hungry. Project chair Larry Mazur says donor board will be set by May 1 and invites donations from individuals, organizations, and businesses in the Roblin area. Receipts will be issued at year end.
Gord Kolinsky and Diane Ginter have purchased Roblin Cleaners from Bill and Carol Procyshyn who will stay on for about three months. The new owners, moving from Altona where they ran a hotel, took over April 1 and plan to bring fresh energy to the business while preserving its ties to the community.
