The Red Cross cautions that spring ice is unsafe across rivers and lakes as thaw weakens shore ice first. Parents are urged to keep children off the ice and avoid skating or snowmobiling. In rivers, stronger currents make deeper ice near shore safer for brief near water exposure.
Roblin Kin Smen Club members raised funds and contributed man hours to build an artificial ice plant and rink, ensuring no burden on Roblin taxpayers thanks to their untiring effort.
The Dauphin Chapter of the Manitoba Archaeological Society met in the Fort Dauphin Museum Board Room on March 98th to discuss summer digs at a site believed to be the original Fort Dauphin. They seek permission to excavate under government rules and invite participation via President Joe Robertson and Secretary Hugh Fox. Vic Barber gave a slide talk on Mayan ruins at Talum and Chichen Itza in Yucatan.

The Wheat Board Advisory Committee met March 18 1977 with ten members five commissioners and senior staff present. Deliveries to March 9 1977 reached 542.3 million bushels vs 527.4 million a year earlier while exports total 417.5 million vs 432.1 a year ago. No new news on producer quotas or world crop conditions.
The Roblin Mixed Spiel opened Wednesday March 30 with 64 rinks entered. The event features a banquet and dance at Roblin Memorial Hall after play concludes with prizes in four events.
Reggie's Ramblings cites Ambrose Bierce on conservatives and liberals. It quotes Canadian Health Minister Marc Lalonde claiming two billion dollars yearly for alcoholism treatment and five hundred million for tobacco related diseases. An overheard hotel remark targets Canada as two nations with unequal rights and a head-man in every home.
