At Dominion Experimental Station Morden pure Hampshire ewes are bred in fall, ear tags and breeding dates tracked to predict lambing. Lambing pens confine ewes briefly for close attention, with handling of weak lambs by feeding assistance and careful ewe-lamb pairing, plus strategic nursing and castration timing.
Facing high unemployment New Zealand adopts a dole scheme. Men over 20 receive about 525 dollars weekly while women get 437 dollars. Benefits vary by age with additional allowances for children. A 3500 dollar annual fund will be funded by contributions from adults over 18.

American toy exports to Canada rose markedly over five years. In 1929 Canada received 1,210,938 dollars worth of toys, about one third of US toy shipments. Demand favored practical durable and instructive toys, boosting US made goods despite many inexpensive German and Japanese items still selling well. US total toy exports to all countries reached 83,983,749 dollars.

The council may vote on using the weigh scales building for a future tourist camp and schedule repairs.

Mr and Mrs E M Olson entertained friends Monday evening. Miss Boucher appointed Club Master in place of Mrs E Munro who left town. See the Manhattan Honeymoon in Davis Hall Friday the 4th. Mr and Mrs ER W Munro leave town for Denholm Sask. A dance and presentation followed, Cubs gifting a leather club bag and aluminum roasting pan to their Master Mrs Munro. best wishes from the community.
Mr Floyd Chase and brother David moved west of Roblin this week. Miss Irene Chase remains under doctor care in Winnipeg. Mr Prescott and family moved into the district for the summer. Miss Edna Johnstone hosted a birthday gathering for thirteen. Local lads head west for work. Albert Stokke Findley McLeod Norman Johns tone and W E Currey travel by Monday’s express. A fancy masquerade dance drew the largest winter crowd, with Adeline Jansund and Harvey Sorbo winning first prize for costumes.
Deepdale locals report Jack Ward teaching at Clemenceau spent the weekend with family. A well attended dance added to community pleasure Friday night. A busy Friday saw a car of mixed stock loaded for Mr Spigelman. Visitors include Mrs Levi Saunders of Ft Francis and Miss Hogue of Ft Frances. Transient visitors Kelso Fletcher Gardner of Robin and Swartzman of Walker noted. A Tuesday gathering at Forest LEM included the Chinaman who crashed the gate. Walter Firemore hospitalized after a relapse. George Brown from the Golden Gate area renewing acquaintances.
Nie Yscabosky who bought the M Luddy farm recently moved in. Alex Donaldson A Traub and W Betty are hauling substantial lumber from Cockerills mill. Friends greet Kelly Cockeril upon his return from Dauphin hospital after a three month stay for a broken leg and wish him a full recovery.

Francie Grieves aged twenty three, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Grieves of Roblin, died March 26 at Ninette Sanitarium after treatment. The funeral at Roblin United Church was led by Rev D S Kern. The service drew many friends who honored the deceased with a solo “Peace” and paid final respects at his family home before burial in Roblin.
