Arena interior work progresses with salvaged lumber
Last week the new arena interior saw seat construction in the waiting and players rooms funded by the winter works project grant. Shingle installation is pending. $3,000 more is needed. Donors include Cliff Howe 10, Harold Keast 5, Dr. Large 10, and many others, with Riverbend Ladies Club giving 15 and Tummer Community 50. Last week’s prize went to Mrs Verna Ostrowski.

Parade drills mark air cadets parade and promotions
On Tuesday March 28 41 cadets 3 officers 4 instructors and 8 visitors paraded. Inspection was led by the CO with the Adjutant and Squadron Warrant Officer. Dean Dietrich son of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Dietrich Roblin was named most improved and received the lanyard and a $1.00 bill. Promotions included Aircraftman 1st class Doug Hutton Alvin McBain and Ron Mensch to Leading Aircraftman LACs Kelly Thom Keith Thom Jack Hamilton Lynn Burdett to Corporal CPLs Raymond Halwas Lanny Beischer and Lory Wowk to Sergeant and Rick Thom to Flight Sergeant. New insignia were presented by the Commanding Officer.

Four Legion Members Attend Meeting At Dauphin
Four Roblin Branch No. 24 Royal Canadian Legion members Earl Ward Sheldon Jones Eugene Bramwell and Art Lovas traveled to Dauphin for District No. 1 South Legion meeting on March 28. Zone No. 13 elected Orrin C. Kerr as zone Commander and Elizabeth V. Pearce as deputy zone Commander. Officers re elected at the district level included John McCallum District Commander Lawrence M Haagenson Deputy District Commander and Roy E Coppel District Secretary Treasurer. A membership talk by Col D Lavenick urged renewals and recruiting. Several resolutions were sent to the June Winnipeg convention. A supper followed and Swan River will host next year’s meetings.

Manitoba's Grade 12 students may apply early for the 1971-72 University of Manitoba session and receive conditional admission by late June. Those who skip early admissions must apply by July 15. Conditional admission hinges on graduation. final confirmation follows graduation. The program helps universities enroll freshmen sooner and lets students start earlier.
