The writer complains about young men whistling and catcalling women in the streets. He laments lax behavior as a sign of the times and urges home influence as the remedy, noting society treats such acts too lightly.

Holders of bonds and stock maturing on September 15 should apply now to convert into the new loan. The loan may close soon and late applications won’t be accepted. Those not converting can receive payment by presenting certificates to the Commonwealth Bank. Closing date nears guidance to apply at banks or post offices. Terms offer 7 or 14 year periods with 5 percent interest and specific yield figures.
