Roanoke to Get a Real Park With Grandstand and Improvements
Zent Brothers will purchase Slater baseball park from Elmer Slater and begin grading and construction this fall. The project adds land west of the park, a graveled drive for parking, a cement walk to the grand stand, and a new grand stand seating 500 with motion picture facilities. The park will be enclosed by a high board fence with advertising signs and will feature a reoriented baseball diamond and playground equipment. The effort aims for a major community upgrade in Roanoke with plans for future improvements and a possible new park name.

Prof D N Howe Dies in Ann Arbor at 73
The obituary honors Prof D N Howe who died October 20 1921 in Ann Arbor Michigan during brain tumor surgery. He led Roanoke Seminary from 1884 to 1889 guiding growth and relocation to North Manchester later. He was a reformer and educator with a long ministry and family life, survived by eight sons and a daughter from his first wife Delilah Rebecca McGee and six with Laura Sickafuse, plus a third marriage to Clara Werling.

John Henry Jackson Dies at 69 Near Roanoke
John Henry Jackson, sixty nine, died at his home five miles southwest of Roanoke Wednesday morning at 9 30. Surviving are his widow three sons W H Jackson A B Jackson and O E Jackson all of Fort Wayne, a daughter Miss Merneat Jackson at home, two brothers a sister five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 30 at the residence with Rev Eday of Zanesville in charge. Interment will be at Kelsey cemetery.
