Roy Henley of Roanoke escaped serious harm when a Wabash passenger train struck his car near Huntington. The engineer reported a collision but details were unclear as the train did not stop in Huntington. Henley jumped from the vehicle before impact, his auto badly damaged, and he quipped that the train proved stronger than his machine.
Born October 12 1844 in Starke County Ohio and died August 1919 in Roanoke Indiana. Second son of John and Catherine Simons he lived in Huntington County most of his life with stints in Denver and Loansport. Survived by wife Mary C Zorger son Orville brother Jacob and sister Eliza. Funeral at family home with interment at Roanoke I O O F cemetery.
The Colton Dramatic Company announces a return engagement next week after canceling a Van Buren date due to strike baggage delays. Manager Abey Abram says all new plays will be presented unless requested, opening with The Captain's Daughter and including St. miE and Master and Man.

Attendees include Mr. and Mrs. Frank Doughman and relatives at the John Dennis home, with others visiting in Fort Wayne for the Bowman reunion. John Dennis and sons delivered oats to Fort Wayne while noted officials called Tuesday evening.

Henry Ford won six cents in a million dollar defamation suit over a Chicago Tribune editorial dated June 2, 1916 titled Ford is an Anarchist. A jury deliberated ten hours and twenty minutes. the Solomon News Co. case was dismissed as distributors without knowledge of contents. Community notes mention Fort Wayne visitors and relatives including Mr. Peter Smith and Hazel Hartman.
The Big Wednesday Club holds a regular business session Monday evening to arrange upcoming activities. Members are urged to attend to ensure full participation in planning. September 3 marks the meeting date in Big Wednesday.
