DIRT IS FLYING ON JOB IN Roanoke Rapids paving
After five years of planning, dirt is flying on the five mile street paving project in Roanoke Rapids. Work on 2nd Street and Hamilton Street between First and Third has begun with Harrison Wright Co. handling storm sewers. By today four blocks of ditches and part of storm sewer pipe have been laid. Concrete paving contracts to William F. Bowe Jr. start in a month. The storm sewer contract stands at 26 695.05 dollars, paving at 189 633.00 dollars, total 216 329.05 dollars, with a 45 percent Public Works Administration grant.
