Merchants Endorse Three House Candidates in Blunt Sale Tax Fight
A county merchants steering committee meeting in Halifax on April 30 endorses three State House candidates R C Shields of Hobgood A M Atkinson of Enfield and W H Thorne of Airlie who have pledged to fight the sales tax repeal if elected. The panel from several towns to urge voters and to request detailed positions from all endorsed candidates and county commissioners on the sales tax, with a plan to organize a broader merchant coalition by May 14.
