Governor Broughton fishes Rock Fish at Weldon festival

Governor J Melville Broughton visited Weldon for Governor s Day at the Rock Fish Festival and fished on the Roanoke River. He caught a two pound rock after an early miss, posed with his catch, and praised North Carolina s small town festival spirit. Lt Governor Harris also fished, but drew a blank and later awarded Broughton a prize for the day s smallest fish.
