A home economist and dietetics expert from Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Co will conduct a free electric cooking school at Roanoke Rapids High School auditorium at 1 pm Tuesday, April 4. Details inside.
City Board of Commissioners approves regular city election for May 2 to choose a Mayor and two Ward members. Registration opens April 15 from 9 am to 5 pm, with extended hours April 22 and Saturday polling at 9 am to 9 pm. North Ward registrar Jenny Fitts. judges E A Telliga and Walter Woodruff at B Marks Store. South Ward registrar C C Shell. judges Allie Wood and Byron Gurley at 1025 Roanoke Avenue.
The marker bill with the Folger amendment removed passed the House by a 4 to 1 vote of the conference committee but the Senate refused to pass it as the conference report was not signed by Senator Folger. Folger was the lone committee member.
