Local notes mention visits by W Burnette and J C Butts from Garysburg to family and friends, a few business trips to Norfolk and Raleigh, and social calls. Easter events include a church program by Miss Clara Boyd, and a Presbyterian Food Sale on April 3.
The traveling stock company Culhane's Comedians begin a week at Peoples Theatre on Monday March 29 with The Turning Point opening. They tour a string of regional venues and offer a high class repertoire including The Straight Road and The Girl of the Golden West with vaudeville acts between plays. Dime Matinee Saturday features light sketches and patter amid a continuous performance style.
Roanoke Rapids will gain a planing mill after Mr. J. Elwood Tate of New York confirmed the project. The plant, to be built at the town siding, will employ about twenty men and produce one by one handled flooring ceilings and weatherboarding.
New York City traveling man A Isaacson visited Roanoke Rapids on a maiden trip, arrived after midnight, found no hotel, mistook Rosemary for Roanoke Junction, wandered until dawn, reporting the town nearly deserted except for a pump and a dog. He called his night positively unforgettable and left a moral about inkstand duties.
J Y Hinson speaks to Woodmen of the World highlighting their duty to cut down forests of prejudice, prepare ground for progress, and plant seeds for right living. He urges aiding widows and orphans and bringing sunlight into homes, tying the address to the woodman ethic and social uplift.
Mrs H F Morton and Mrs Hassel hosted the Presbyterian Ladies Aid Society Thursday with Rev H F Morton leading devotion. Officers plan to attend the Presbyterial in Rocky Mount April 6 7 8 and the next meeting shifts to April 13 at Mrs Beckwith’s Rosemary. A children's party tale and a quip from Philadelphia Ledger conclude.

Raleigh L Topping formerly of A C College Wilson N C and new pastor of First Christian Church Rosemary N C will preach the revival starting Sunday. He is aided by D L Askew Lena Jones and Frances Tuten at the Rosemary store half-sack venue. Topping, 23, from Pantego Beaufort County, pastored Royal NC church growth included 36 members with 22 added in his first year.
