Ready holds A B and A M from USC and pursued postgrad work at UNC Harvard Chicago NYU. he is married with three children and active in Methodist and educational organizations. He will assume duties this fall.

Flying ace piloting a P 51 Mustang in Europe he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters after fifty bombing missions and two major battles. he will report to Miami Beach for further orders.

Tragedy as girl fractures skull in truck incident
Mary Virginia Edwards ten, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ross Edwards of Washington Street, fell or was thrown from a moving truck carrying several children on a Wednesday morning en route to school. She was rushed to Roanoke Rapids Hospital where doctors found a fractured skull.
