Roanoke Rapids seeks fair share of ABC profits for Halifax towns
The City Board of Commissioners asks Senator T W M Long and Halifax County lawmakers to pass a local bill. It would allow towns with ABC stores in Halifax County to receive a reasonable portion of profits and taxes from those stores. The resolution urges enactment and dispatches copies to the local senator and representatives.

Merchants Elect New Roanoke Rapids Leader in 1937
Merchants Association meeting at the Municipal Building elected George N. Taylor as president for 1937. They urged Seaboard Air Line to add a train shed at the depot for bad weather and asked the Post Office Dept. to landscape the grounds around the new building. The board approved selling state auto license tags next year in Roanoke Rapids with Clerk Ruby Wood handling the task.
