Counties Hold Up Ad Valorem Tax Payments
State Treasurer Charles M. Johnson reports some counties fail to turn over 15 cent ad valorem collections to the State Treasury, violating the law. For 1931-32 only about 3.7 million of the 4.46 million levy arrived. for 1932-33 just over 2.3 million. Halifax County reported 1931-32 receipts of 47,434.99 and 42,275.19 for 1932-38, through late June.
