War Board rules for temporary agricultural worker releases
Temporary releases may last up to six weeks and can be extended. The War Board must grant a release with start and end dates before the Employment Service can certify workers for industrial jobs. In some counties the applicant may be asked to appear before the War Board. The board weighs agricultural needs, impact on war crops, hardship, and related factors before deciding. Selective service registrants receive releases for a definite period via their local board. Contact Mr. R. E. Sumner, manager of the Roanoke Rapids USES office, for release guidance.
