Paroled Roanoke Rapids teen Miller in temporary release
Hubert Miller a 16 year old Roanoke Rapids boy convicted in Halifax Superior Court for an January incident has received a temporary parole after six months served. A June 6 1939 notice says Governor Hoey approved parole with four months of supervised home confinement away from Halifax County under Cromwell Daniel Raleigh. If rehab is shown the parole may become permanent.

Three Hurt in Whittaker Street Crash Involving Doctor Family
Mrs R A Daniel wife of a local dentist and her two relatives were seriously injured in a morning auto wreck at Whittakers. Mrs M M Carpenter suffered a dislocated hip and internal injuries. The Daniel child escaped serious harm. They were en route to Raleigh to visit Mrs Daniels mother.
