Tragic Death of Weldon Girl After Operation
The young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hazelwood of Weldon died suddenly Monday morning in Roanoke Rapids Hospital after an operation. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 from the Weldon residence, with interment in Cedarwood Cemetery. She is survived by her parents, a sister Barbara Ann Hazelwood and a brother Billy.

Gaston Caps Two During Weekend
The Gaston baseball team won no games last weekend, beating Roanoke Rapids 5-0 on Saturday and blanking Riplett, Va 8-0 on Sunday. Saturday batteries were Burnette Oliver Garnet for Gaston and Stewart Lewis Cook for the Eagles. Sunday pitcher Charles Draughin threw his second straight shutout, allowed eight hits, with Pearson High and Draugin Oliver behind him.
