Private First Class William L. Bell of Roanoke Rapids arrived home this week after 18 months in the South Pacific, including four and a half months on Guadalcanal. He received a medical discharge for shell shock and tropical malaria.

John D. Cox Wounded Marine Transferred to Corona Hospital
Pfc John D Cox U S M C son of Mr and Mrs N D Cox was wounded at Guadalcanal in September 1942 and hospitalized since. He has been moved to United States Naval Hospital Corona California and is improving with hopes for a furlough.
