Halifax County Free Of Boll Weevils In Cotton
J A Shanklin of State College and County Agent W O Davis surveyed Halifax County cotton this week and found no bollweevils. They forecast a bright outlook with an estimated 85 percent mopped, and advised burning fallen squares over the next two weeks to prevent future infestations. Government grading in ginneries is expected to grow to about 12 stations next fall. The 1940 county yield is expected to more than double last year’s.
