Roanoke Rapids Plans Sixth School Building On Vance Street
The sixth Roanoke Rapids Graded School District building will rise on Vance Street near Second and Third. The Little Cigpengsion Co. of Charlotte won the bid for $26,896 with plumbing by A E Cumba of Wilmington at $1,575 and heating by C L Russ at $2,607. Four acres were bought for $2,000, totaling $33,098. Eight classrooms and an auditorium will serve 360 pupils. Architect Eric Flannagan will supervise with construction to finish by early November.

Sheriff nomination went to Joe Riddick with 4773 over Thompson. Governor McDonald led county voting 6821, Lt Governor Hoey 5956, Secretary Eure 3848, Wade 3714.
