Longtime Roanoke Rapids Resident George Fitts Dies

Roanoke Rapids mourns George Collins Fitts a longtime public servant and church member born October 15 1849 in Warren County He served as Warren County sheriff for six years and as a Roanoke Rapids city official for over a decade He died after two and a half years of illness and left a wife nine children and siblings Capt FM Witts of Rocky Mount and Mary Fitts of Ridgeway among survivors The funeral was held at Warrenton with interment in Scotland Neck Rev R A McFarland officiating Also noted’ Mrs M F Pierce aged 79 died at the Womble home in Roanoke Rapids after a long illness and was connected with Conocanary Church since age sixteen She married John Cochran and later Rice B Pierce leaving two daughters Mrs J W Womble and Mrs Olivia Staton She is buried in Scotland Neck.

Rosemary church revival closes after ten days

The Rosemary Baptist Church revival services end Monday night after ten days of preaching by Rev. M. P. Davis of Aulander New York. Community members including Mrs. Ben Cullom and Miss Emma Smith are noted as visiting relatives and friends. The Rosemary Concert Band received new uniforms and will perform in the park, and the Rosemary Library notes added fiction volumes bringing total to about six hundred.
