Ground broken for Roanoke Farms Resettlement project in Halifax
Last week construction began on the first farm houses at Roanoke Farms in Halifax County North Carolina. The Resettlement Administration aims to blend good land methods and careful family selection in a key farm security demonstration. Project Manager L L McLendon, Regional Director George S. Mitchell, and Resident Engineer H G Halsey were present. John Jackson, a 53 year old African American WPA labor representative, aided as engineers outlined the farmstead layout and corn plans.

Weldon Charter Change Rally Restores Clerk Appointment

Local Boy Scout Earns Eagle Scout Rank
A local boy scout, now an Eagle Scout, returned home to attend the Scout Court of Honor and receive the Eagle badge. The badge was pinned on by his mother Mrs. W. H. Babcock of this city. He is a student at the University of North Carolina.
