A night school is organized in connection with the Graded school to aid children who must work to meet life costs. Sessions run four nights weekly from seven to nine thirty, under Supt. Proctor with two teachers. Enrollment is by applying to Supt. Proctor. classes have begun.
A local notice blends health guidance with community happenings. Rev R W Bailey presides at Shilo on the 6th Sunday. social visits, Christmas events, and a spring of personal health tips are shared. Advice urges daily hygiene, fresh air, rest, exercise, and avoiding excess to ward off disease. Local marriages, church sermons, and neighborly visits fill the item.

The Baptist Church announces its annual every member canvass this Sunday afternoon from two to five. A large 42 member committee seeks cheerful responses and urges weekly givers to continue their support. A consecration service is planned and the committee will sit in front seats. They will meet at 1 30 for prayers before visiting members. The Ladie's Aid Society monthly meeting and the Junior and Senior B Y P U are postponed or canceled for the day.
Miss Bessie Jones of Bowling Green Virginia visits Miss Annie Medlin. Jack Matthews resigns from S A L Railroad Co and accepts a position with Hamill and Wood.
The corner stone of a new All Saints Mission building will be laid Sunday at four o'clock with exercises marking the occasion. Bishop Cheshire of Raleigh will officiate and the public is invited. The church, designed by a leading American architect, will seat about two hundred and include a large basement for Sunday School classes.
Mr T W Laye of Raleigh visits daughter Elizabeth Laye while C W and J A Vincent handle Raleigh business. Mr R H Gray travels to Peters burg on business. Mrs Lelia Gennings of Emporia visits friends here. Miss Tempie Cleaton entertains guests Wednesday. J C Vincent in Littleton on business. Mr A M Glover and family move to Rosemary. Miss Mattie Shaw of Thema visits relatives. Mrs R E Baird returns from Peters burg. Edwondce Vincent undergoes dental work in Roanoke Rapids. Mr Billie Lee of Emporia visits on business. Miss Lillie Vincent returns from Emporia trip. Mrs C W Vincent visits with Mrs Jim Baird. Tom Allen has dental work in Roanoke Rapids. Messrs Bruce Reid Clair Wyne of Emporia spend Sunday with Misses Vincent.

Collins Keeter Benjamin Franklin Collins of South Weldon married Neicy J. Keeter daughter of James Keeter at Mrs D Keeter's home Sunday at six. They planned a move to Richmond and Washington and will be at home in South Weldon after the 15th. The groom is a popular local businessman and the bride is described as pretty and attractive. A fragmented pistol of a conversation has a caller asking the grocer to send half a pound of butter and change for a fifty dollar bill. The grocer protests the request and jokes about the money and Wall Street. The exchange appears to be a garbled, informal street dialogue with unclear context.
Dr H E Kelsey of Kilo Hawaii will speak at the Graded School Auditorium next Monday night January 16 on Hawaii the paradise of the Pacific. Stereopticon views will illustrate and entertain. Proceeds, after expenses, go to the American Committee for Armenian Relief 70 Fifth Avenue New York. The appeal notes Armenians, especially women and children, suffer due to the war and suggests listeners will aid a worthy cause.
J A Blackman longtime Rosemary president died after months of illness at his daughter Mrs Mamie Merritt s home in Petersburg. The body was moved to Rosemary and funeral services were held at the residence of Mr J W Kinen with Rev Raleigh L Topping of the First Christian Church presiding.
The first sale of lots in this community for colored people will be held next Saturday afternoon on the Cannon farm near South Rosemary. W F Horner owns the property and Burton Bros Auction Co conducts the sale. The nicely developed subdivision offers roomy lots for a better class of colored residents. free prizes, Rosemary Band music, and a balloon ascent will accompany the event. White and colored people are invited to attend.
