The Rosemary Roanoke Rapids Ministerial Union met at Rev L N Taylors residence for its second monthly gathering. Devotional exercises engaged all members, C H Trueblood was chosen to lead intercessions next Thursday at Rosemary Methodist Church. A noted pentace by Rev Trueblood, The Fascination of Difficulty, inspired attendees. Refreshments hosted by Mrs Taylor concluded the session. E C Few Secretary.

Raleigh February 5 1918 report says the income tax act requires every person and every organization paying $800 or more to another entity to report the name and address of the recipient and the payment amount to the Commissioner of Internal Revenue in Washington. Forms 1099 and 1096 must be completed and returned by March 1 1918.
The North Carolina plan requires all fuel using businesses to stay closed on Mondays per A W McAlister Federal Fuel Administrator guidelines. Exceptions cover hydro electrically heated plants heat for food drug sales continuing operation to prevent damage and heat for cafes and hotels serving food. Theatres may open Monday but close Tuesday night. violations are prosecuted by local administrator J T Stainback.
The Fuel Administration sets price limits for cord wood in Rosemary and Roanoke Rapids starting February 11. Delivered prices per bedded cord range from 4.00 to 5.50 depending on size and packaging, with unit measurement fixed at 128 cubic feet. reporting overcharging to Local Fuel Administrator TL Stainback is encouraged for prompt action.

Food administrator Henry A Page orders the county to identify shoppers who bought flour beyond one barrel in the last three months and require their return of excess stock to dealers at cost. County official Raymond Dunn is instructed to notify customers and press prosecutions against offenders. Also notes a February 11 meeting of Carolina Lodge II under Noble Grand and secretary.
Feed manufacturers and dealers in livestock feeds must obtain licenses under the Food Administration by February 15. The rule covers baled hay, shelled corn, and other ingredients for feeds. millers of bran and coarse-grain dealers are already licensed. Applications go to the Food Administration license division in Washington, D. C.
Church services Sunday led by the minister with morning focus on Types of Men and evening on Some Old Testament Parables. Sunday School 9 45 each Sunday, Christian Endeavor Wednesday night at a member’s home, Friday prayer meetings. First Sunday in March marks Foreign Mission Day with a special offering. County Food Administrator Raymond C. Dunn calls a mass meeting for February 11 at the Halifax Court House. Merchants, jobbers, hotels, boarders, and consumers of food are urged to attend to learn exact Federal Food Law provisions and avoid penalties from unintentional violations.
W S Wilson secretary of the North Carolina Council of Defense appeals to readers to support troops. He urges three actions: send a home paper to at least one soldier, write weekly letters or send books or magazines, and keep personal troubles at home to avoid burdening the soldiers. The message stresses patriotism and practical help.
