Mrs Levi Browning has been ill for a few days. Mr and Mrs Chas Kelly and Miss Annie Cook drove to Anderson Sunday to visit relatives. Miss Mary Towe spent the weekend with her brother in Rapids. Mrs Will Liles has pneumonia but is now improving. The infant of Mr and Mrs Coe died Sunday and was buried near home Monday. Rev Win Towe preached near Tabor Church. Ernest Brewer visited his brother at Camp Leach Friday. January 31 guests were entertained at Mrs M R Crawley’s with games and cake. Mr Loyd Melvin leaves Richmond for a new job and Mr Jack Smith leaves Rocky Mount for work with I R Company. Ben Butts returned to Rocky Mount. Miss Eula Glasgow wed from Emporia. The High School added a portrait of General Hurshing. A teachers meeting at the Center included Miss Oxwell and Miss Cunningham with a morning exercise and noon dinner followed by games.

Funeral of Capt S B Hunter at Bethesda Church
Captain S B Hunter of Brinkleyville died January 16 and funeral services were held January 17 at Bethesda Methodist Protestant Church. He served in the Thirty sixth North Carolina Regiment in the Civil War and left a widow and seven children. Hunter was born near Enfield and lived to age seventy eight, renowned for his grace, wit, and friendly nature. He is survived by Mrs PAL Nicholson of Washington NC and others in Florence DC Wilmington and Brinkleyville.

Two Boys Steal Car and Risked a Night Ride
