Governor seeks AG opinion on Halifax special election
Governor J M Broughton asked the Attorney General for guidance on a possible Halifax county special election to fill the late Senator T W M Long's seat. The opinion had not arrived by late afternoon, and officials debated the cost and value given the advanced General Assembly session. The Halifax County Democratic Executive Committee met yesterday and adjourned without a decision, noting no action could occur without a gubernatorial call.
