Navy Gunner Wells Missing Since July 1942 Message
The son of the late J. C. Wells and Mrs Elizabeth C Wells of 1135 Hamilton Street is serving as a gunner in the U S Navy somewhere at sea. He sailed from New York about six weeks ago and has not been heard from since. He joined the Navy July 8 1942.

With six shopping days left before Christmas, most Roanoke Rapids stores will stay open until 9 PM Friday through Christmas Eve.
