City plans storm sewers and municipal building site
At a special meeting the City Board of Commissioners selected the site for a new municipal building beside a Federal post office site on 7th Street and authorized a 10 000 loan to widen Roanoke Avenue by curb to curb. The contract is set to begin after Christmas with bids for the municipal building to be advertised within two weeks.

C A Lyerly aged 56 died Sunday from injuries after being struck by a car on the Avenue last Friday. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. Lyerly, who came to Roanoke Rapids 24 years ago, worked for Rosemary Mfg Co and Patterson Malls Co. The collision occurred near the Avenue and 9th Street as he crossed homeward, the car driven by Herman Shearin, 18, northbound on the Avenue.
