Preventorium Ends Second Term Five Weeks Early
Roanoke Rapids Preventorium closes its second five week term on Saturday August 16. About thirty boys and girls return home healthier and better prepared for the upcoming year. The program enriched spiritual, mental, physical and social development under Miss Elizabeth Tait and Miss Bertha Walston. Community cooperation from Lions, Kiwanis, Rotary, churches, and local businesses supported swimming trips, nature study, crafts, news writing for The Preventorium Sun, and evening events. Health checks were provided by local doctors, with donations acknowledged from multiple groups and individuals. Sunday School at Smith's Church continues, and the church school annual outing is planned with family picnics.
