The Rosemary community reports a powerful McLendon Evangelistic Campaign with broad support. About 683 cards for church membership or reclamation were signed, $5000 raised for campaign and evangelist, and pastors and churches vow continued cooperation to sustain the spiritual gains.
Maurice C. Allen and Miss Alice Cuthrell wed at All Saints Church with Rev. Lewis N. Taylor officiating. Only relatives and close friends attended as the couple plans a move to Rosemary North Carolina after a brief wedding visit.
Samuel Hargraves died at his home on Five Hundred Street Rosemary Friday morning after a lingering illness. He left a wife and several children. The body was taken to Franklin Virginia where interment was made Sunday afternoon.
Miss Saucer the County Nurse has organized home nursing and hygiene classes in Scotland Neck Tillery Enfield and Weldon. A new class is to be organized at Hobgood Thursday this week and more are planned at Littleton and Roanoke Rapids. Interest among young and elder women is rising as pupil numbers grow.
All Saints Church Episcopal led by Rev. Lewis N. Taylor announces Eleventh Sunday after Trinity with church school and Adults Bible Class at 9 45 supervised by T W Mullen. Divine services at 11 and 8 Christian welcome extended to strangers and residents alike.
Rosemary Methodist Church schedules an 11 A M sermon for new converts followed by an 8 P M baptismal service on the subject How to Conserve the Interest of the recent Revival. Smiths hosts a 3 30 P M sermon and 4 30 P M baptism as revival begins there and runs through the next week with Rev W Martin of Durham assisting at Rosemary and Rev J E Holden of Kenley aiding at Smiths. All members are urged to attend at Rosemary or Smiths next Sunday. New Hope Revival set to begin the fourth Sunday in August with Rev J E Holden assisting.
The University of North Carolina closes its largest summer school on August 5 with about 1,200 students returning home. Remaining are social workers and summer law students in Raleigh for bar exams, while Justice William R. Allen helps polish young lawyers including Katherine Robinson.
The army worm is moving into Halifax County and will affect grass, young corn, millet, sorghum and related plants. Control methods include arsenate of lead or Paris green sprays, with specific mixing ratios for corn and lawns. A mash mixture and trench methods are described for containment, along with post-attack cultivation and monitoring tips. The notice also covers planned lectures, demonstrations, and exhibits by university and extension staff to educate citizens.

Minnie Powell visits Annie Hockaday at Bolling. Major Morris of Rocky Mount stops by. Robert Medlin of Enfield visits. W E Pridgeon and daughter Annie Mae depart for Tarboro. C M Pearson leaves for Norfolk. Susie Medlin of Weldon visits. Berve of Littleton visits Mamie Matthews.
The Roanoke Rapids Rosemary club defeated Kelford 9-2 on their home field. Holden and Cannon led the hitting and the locals pulled away early, scoring in the second and seventh as Hoggard, Shields and the defense held the visitors. A large crowd witnessed the win with a rematch set for next Saturday August 21.
Rosemary residents host guests from Hobgood Scotland Neck and Raleigh while visitors travel to Norfolk and Virginia Beach. A church services series begins at Smiths church next Sunday as locals plan trips to Lexington and Palmer Springs.
