Health and Nutrition program to be held at Clara Hearne School
The second Health Nutrtion and Food Conservation program will be held Tuesday May 9 at 2 p m in the Clara Hearne School auditorium. It is sponsored by Virginia Electric and Power Company with Roanoke Rapids High School Home Economics Department. Dr J F Kendrick of the state health department Raleigh and Miss Ruth Chambers of the Chicago National Livestock Board will speak and a technicolor cookery demonstration is planned. A short film titled Conservation will be shown.

Killer Seeks Work Amid Virginia North Carolina Manhunt
A. B. Tuck Jr. alias Peter Hester, 18, sought employment in Halifax County as authorities hunted him for the murder of Allen P. Johnson and Laura Dutro at their Virginia farm near Clarksville. Johnson beat, Dutro shot, he fled across state lines and was arrested in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.

Driver Suffers Paint Coating In North Carolina Truck Crash
Clifton Pearson of Halifax Farmers Supply Company escaped serious harm after his pickup loaded with about 30 gallons of paint turned over near Nash's Creek. He was pinned beneath the vehicle but freed himself with only minor bruises. Emergency crews reported the truck nearly crushed a total log load.
