Mrs George Harris Dies After Illness at 58 in Rosemary
Mrs George Harris aged 58 died at her Rosemary home Tuesday afternoon after months of illness. She leaves her husband and four children, three sons and a daughter. A devoted Christian and Methodist member, funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Wednesday with Rev. Chas M Lance officiating. Interment followed in Roanoke Rapids Cemetery.

March Health Department Activity Report Highlights
The Health Department outlines March efforts including nine public meetings with 510 attendees where sanitation and quarantine topics were discussed. It reports 651 letters sent, 20 articles published, 431 toilets built in towns and 817 countywide, 40 quarantine cases of various diseases, 13 schools visited, 90 examination cards received, 15 children examined, and 353 smallpox vaccinations plus 12 pneumonia vaccines. It notes 44 inspections and reinforces a state law requiring household reporting of contagious disease within 24 hours.
Meat Feeds Boost Egg Yields in Poultry Diets
G Oliver of the North Carolina Poultry Club notes meat scrap and animal protein in mash crucial for egg production. Beltsville trials show pens with no meat scrap produced 90 eggs yearly vs 125 to 140 with meat scrap. Milk byproducts, bone meal, bugs on range, and cooked scraps can reduce meat needs, while high vegetable proteins replace part of the meat, with cottonseed meal limited to avoid yolk spotting.
