Reported births include a boy to Mr. and Mrs. C B Rook on April 1, a girl to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Morris on April 2, a boy to Mr. and Mrs. G L Tickle on April 2, a boy to Mr. and Mrs. F B Parris on April 5, and a girl to Mr. and Mrs. J L Langston on April 6.
Mrs. Lucille Marcher died April 1 at her Roanoke Rapids home. Funeral services were held Sunday at the residence by Rev. E. B. Fisher. Burial followed in Emporia Cemetery, Emporia, Virginia. Survived by sister Mrs. Myra Davis of Emporia and brother R. W. Seaborn of Washington, D. C. Pallbearers listed. She had worked in the Treasury Department in Washington until about six years ago when health declined and she moved to Roanoke Rapids. She became ill after traveling to Petersburg, Virginia the prior Wednesday and died Friday.

Mr and Mrs Haywood Wynn and their 11 month old son Sherrod were injured when their car overturned near Conway Roanoke Rapids Hospital. The baby suffered a broken arm and Mrs Wynn a broken finger while Mr Wynn had head lacerations and was unconscious upon arrival. His condition improved with consciousness regained by yesterday.
The Roanoke Rapids Lions Club met in the First Baptist Church basement. They kept business brief as committee reports were disposed of quickly. President M. Scott Benton announced the program was omitted and the group decided to attend the Kiwanis 8th Annual Minstrel Rollin Rhythm.
Richmond shooters anu agirs uesue yvench and Mrs Webb joined Roanoke Rapids Skeet Club on Bolling Road for a Sunday event. Mrs Webb hit 72 of 75 targets while her husband scored 98 of 100 calling it an off day. Remington’s Mr Webb has competed here before. Gordonsville VA club to visit April 17 with five players to challenge locals. Public invited to watch free under a grandstand.
