Each board allocated 250 dollars to attract 500 dollars in state and federal funds for a home demonstration agent Susie E Pope elected from Tillery. Halifax Graded School plans and specs were approved. building to cost about 4500 dollars with three classrooms a music room and a library.

Methodist Parsonage Sold and Church Plans Move

Town Commissioners Regular Meeting Roanoke Rapids
The Roanoke Rapids town board granted permission to move the old Methodist parsonage, instructed an engineer to cost Fifth Street opening, ordered monthly fire equipment inspections, allowed Rosemary Manufacturing to lay a Jackson Street pipe line, and approved hydrant fees near Third Fourth Fifth Streets. Halifax Hebrew Relief Society Holds Expanded Plan Meeting
Halifax Hebrew Relief Society met at Mr and Mrs B Marks home with a large crowd. Members planned to extend beyond Halifax county to include the Carolinas and part of Virginia for a wider membership and a broader relief effort. Since January the group has collected and disbursed $500 for war zone relief. A reception followed with supper, games, and community musical selections.

The Civic League of Rosemary Roanoke Rapids and Patter son Mills Village organized in May 1915 to raise public spirit and better the community. Early actions included a successful Clean Up Campaign with prizes for best stores and homes, aided by Roanoke Rapids’ town commissioners. A Community Christmas Tree on Roanoke Avenue faced loss of colored lamps after Christmas. lamps urged to be returned to enable next year's tree. The group seeks new members, especially women, to continue cooperative efforts and achieve future community projects.

Patterson Mills defeated Rosemary in a seven inning practice game at Rosemary Park on Saturday. Patterson Mills scored three runs in the final inning aided by three hits and an error. Barrett starred for Patterson Mills with strong hitting while Rosemary managed a single run on an error and two hits. Colored school inspector criticises conditions in Halifax County
Prof. C. H. Moore of Greensboro, state inspector of colored schools, visited Halifax County with Supt. A. E. Akers, reviewing fifteen schools including Roanoke Rapids and Weldon. He cited poor physical conditions, noted 64 colored rural schools the most in any NC county, urged industrial training and an industrial supervisor, and praised Roanoke Rapids last, though cramped conditions hinder progress.
