Memorial Service for Gunner Connie Hayhurst Held

A memorial service for Gunner Connie Hayhurst son of Mr and Mrs Thos Hayhurst killed in army manoeuvres on the west coast was held at United Church Oak River Sunday evening. The church overflowed with flowers and the Canadian Legion Rivers and Rapid City branches Army and RCAF attended in force. Rev H J Harland led the service noting war’s heavy toll on the young and hoping for lasting peace. Funeral for Joseph Hanna killed by a Canadian Pacific train was held in Hamio­ta with interment at Oak River cemetery.
