Beattie Beattie announce Ella McArthur marriage

Mr and Mrs Alex Beattie Rivers announce the marriage of their younger daughter Ella McArthur to Henry Roland Falk son of Mrs Falk Winnipeg. The wedding occurred at 2 p.m. August 31 in Knox United Church Winnipeg Rev Walter J Spence officiated.

New five cent coin to be issued in twelve sided form

A different metal coin replaces the current nickel. The new five cent piece will be nonround with twelve flat edges around the edge, roughly the size of the present nickel and suitable for telephone slots. The old nickel will be withdrawn from circulation.

Wartime L.C.L. Freight Volumes Rise in 1942 Canada

Railway men report L.C.L. freight moving over Canadian lines in the first half of 1942 reached 237,658 car loads, up three percent from the same period in 1941. Shipments include large items such as thousand-pound castings and heavy tool making machinery.
