Rivers hosts its first Amateur Night this Friday evening the 18th sponsored by the Board of Trade. Contestants should enter at once with committee members C Forman Ry Abely Frank Taylor E O Stewart or James Frame.
Anglican News Services lists next Sunday events in Roseville at 11 AM Holy Communion Ancrum 3 PM Rivers 7 30 PM for Children's Day Services with choirs from Sunday Schools. St James' Young People begin activities with a meeting on Wednesday October 23rd at 7 15 PM.
Canadian National and Canadian Pacific railways will offer reduced fares between all stations in Canada for Thanksgiving Day. The discount applies for travel Wednesday October 23 to 2 p.m. October 24 with return by October 25. Jos B Parker, western secretary of the Canadian Passenger Association, announced the plan.
Western Canada Hoe elevators accept farmers grain for outright sale and act as agents for the Canadian Wheat Board. They receive handle pay and ship Board wheat, offering help since the Board’s formation. Farmers may sell outright or via the Board at any fine elevator.
Rivers United Church marked its anniversary with guest preacher Rev J E Bell of Brandon delivering morning and evening messages. Crowds overflowed the annex, with music by J A McKenzie Hugh Conch Geo Kite Mrs Wolstenholme Jr and Miss E Mitchell. A Sunday evening service was also held at Daly for those unable to attend.
The annual meeting of the Rivers Community Club, postponed from last Monday, will be held next Monday October 21 at 8 pm in the town hall. A good attendance is desired.

McKenzies Store announces a clearance sale to make room for modernizing operations as stock is offered at bargain prices. Owner McKenzie cites joining the Retail Consumer Alliance to gain buying advantages and promises a future store reopening with updated stock and widened assortment for Rivers shoppers.
The St James Athletic Club organized last week with officers President Aif Carr Vice President Tom Richarstoon Secretary Bob Tivy Treasurer Phil Chatton The Rector will oversee devotional periods and Mr A Miller will supervise boxing and related work Meetings are held every Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The Rivers Town Council held a regular meeting on Wednesday October 9 with Mayor Dunsmore presiding. Resolutions include adopting last minutes and approving general accounts 383.95 and electric light 28.60, accepting the assessor’s resignation with arrangements for a successor, and paying a 10 Union of Manitoba Municipalities membership.
The assessment roll of the Rural Municipality of Daly is deposited and open for inspection for fifteen days. Complaints must be lodged with the Clerk at least ten days before the Court of Revision. Edith Dunsmore and Gertie Sergent visit from Dauphin, Fred Hawkins in England joins the Canadian Army Medical Corps, Rivers Methodist Church grows under Rev Wim Ivens.
