Rivers is set to become a major hub in an expanding air mail service stretching across Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta and eventually the Dominion. Officials J A Wilson and Inspector McLea visited Rivers to inspect the landing field and announce immediate light tower construction. Intermediate aerodromes will feature beacon and boundary lighting with electric revolving searchlights and course lights at several points including Oakyville McGregor Petrel Brandon Rivers Arrow River Moosomin White Current Gull Lake Namaawa and Calgary Medicine Hat Alderson Brooks Bassano Nama and Calgary.
Anniversary services will be held Sunday at Rivers United Church with Rev. Lund of Hamilton preaching both morning and evening. Services set for 11 am and 7 30 pm with special choir music. On Tuesday 22 there will be a fowl supper in the church parlors from 5 30 to 8 followed by a high class concert featuring Pettapiece artistes and local talent including a sketch The Rag Carpet Bee by Rivers ladies. Admission to supper and concert is 75 cents for adults and 35 cents for children.
The Ottawa post office will issue a special cancellation stamp reading Observe Sunday used on all letters passing through Canadian cities from Halifax to Victoria during October and November. The two month period marks the Lord's Day Alliance of Canada's fortieth anniversary campaign with post offices contributing to the effort.
A public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday October 23 at the town hall to discuss raising funds to purchase a Merry-Whirl for the Rivers school junior children. The gathering aims to provide permanent playground equipment and invites broad attendance and support.

The Rivers School Board met with Dr. Lyon presiding. Bills totaling 342.83 were approved. The principal reported pupil enrollment and attendance, and outlined playground arrangements. The secretary was told vans must transport only school children. The board advertised for an Attendance Officer for next year.
Judge Clement decided a wage dispute between John F. Landry and George Piercy of Rivers district. Landry claimed 66.50 for wages. Piercy denied and claimed board. The court awarded Landry the full wage amount minus lodging credits, total 4.50 plus costs and 10 for counsel fees.
Sam Toy of the Chinese restaurant was held up at 1 30 am and robbed of several hundred dollars. Rev Lemon ends his Rector term at St James and departs for Port Arthur next week. School board asked to provide hot drinks at noon for out of town pupils. Clifford Tivy, long in the British Navy, visits from Australia to see his brother Norman.
