Health column urges keeping bedroom windows ajar for gentle air flow during sleep to prevent overheat and improve rest. Emphasizes proper clothing for temperature, warns against overdressing infants, notes night air is as beneficial as day air and links open windows to tuberculosis prevention.
The Community Club held its annual meeting in the town hall Monday evening with Jos. Morrow presiding. Reports showed a successful season and a healthy balance. Officers for the coming year were elected: President Murdoch, Vice President Mrs. N. Tivy, Sec.-Treas. Miss H Serbia, Executive Mrs. Tucker, Mrs. D. A. Moore, Mrs. P. Neville Jr., Chas. Nowe and Jos. Morrow.

A Daly Wheat Pool Local meeting will be held at the Sons of England Hall on Thursday October 17 at 8 p.m. to discuss resolutions from various Wheat Pool Locals. Members are urged to attend. G. I. Davies, Secy.
Fire Prevention Week from October 6 to 12 focuses on education about fire dangers and prevention methods. It urges individuals and town councils to enforce safety measures to protect life and property and stresses personal responsibility in building fire consciousness year round.
The Dominion Bureau of Statistics considers questions for the June 1931 census. The plan lists every person in Canada as Canadians, British subjects not Canadians, or allies. Canadians include born in Canada, long-term residents, naturalized citizens, and their children.
The Horseshoe Club held a Thursday event at the fair grounds with ideal weather. Steve Mils won the most ringers. doubles and singles results feature Muirhead, Moore, Robins, Mills, and others from Oak River, Rivers, Brandon, and Douglas. A dance and dinner closed the day with thanks to volunteers and prize donors.
A plot ninety feet square at the southeast corner of the old Methodist church site has been leased to the focal W I for 99 years as a site for a war memorial. No disposal of the old church building yet, though several offers have been received. Rapid City is nearing completion as a highway hub with potential inclusion in the Rapid City Hamitoa route, set to boost auto traffic. With threshing over, town police report increased arrests and two theft cases, urging residents to lock cars and stay watchful.
Pleasant weather greeted anniversary services at Pettapiece Church last Sunday with Rev. R. H. Fotheringham delivering morning and evening sermons to large congregations. The choir provided fine music and the week closed with a well attended Tuesday fowl supper and concert featuring a lecture by Rev. J. E. Beil.

Special music by the choir and a social program follow including a Tuesday night fowl supper and a highclass concert featuring Pettapiece artistes and Rivers ladies skit The Reg Carpet Bee. Admission 75 cents for supper and concert, 35 cents for children. WMS meets at Mrs Offer’s Thursday October 17 at p.m. If unable to attend Daly service, Rivers offers 7.30 pm service at the usual hour.
A demonstration of Domestic Shortening will be held on Saturday October 12 in Grummett's store. The product is made from pure vegetable oil and is presented as a cheaper alternative to lard for cooking and baking.

Ten years ago Rev S H Sarkissian of Melville preached at Knox Church with anniversary services planned that Sunday. The Boys and Girls Fair on Saturday was a big success despite poor turnout at Rivers Fair, postponed from July. Mrs Geo Rathwell purchased the business formerly carried on by Mrs Grainger.
Fifteen years ago Pte Norman Ferguson wrote that the 1st Canadian Contingent was ready to sail from Valcartier. The school reported a total enrollment of 162 students and C. D. Card thanked Koseka for assisting in stopping a prairie fire caused by a broken law.
