Rev W R Donagh conducted services in Minnedosa on Sunday. Dr C M Thomas attended a Winnipeg Medical Convention held Tuesday and Wednesday.Jack Hanlon departed Saturday for Winnipeg to train as a wireless telegraphist in the Canadian Navy. Miss Betty McConachie left last week for the University of Manitoba to begin her third year in Arts. Mrs Thos Smith left Wednesday for St Thomas Ontario to join her husband at the R C A F Training School. Mr and Mrs Robi Crandall and daughter Carol left Sunday for Vancouver BC after visiting her parents Mr and Mrs H Evans. Mrs Fred Taylor and her son visited her parents Mr and Mrs J A McKenzie from Winnipeg. Fred came up Saturday for the weekend. A chicken dinner is planned at Pettapiece United Church Thursday Oct 8 from 6 to 8 pm with a concert at Rivers Airport to follow. Adults 50c, children 25c. Mr and Mrs J T Thomas returned Monday from Saskatoon after visiting their daughter Mrs T N Metheral who accompanied them and will visit Dr and Mrs C M Thomas. Brandon merchants seek weekly half holiday all year
The mercantile section of the Brandon Board of Trade recommended a weekly half holiday for twelve months with the exception of the Wednesday before Christmas. They will prepare a petition for early presentation to the city council following a national appeal to curtail working hours.
