The Rivers Board of Trade hosts a Friday November 20 amateur contest and dance in the 1.0 OF Ball starting 7 45 p m. Open to local and out of town talent with seven minute acts. Prizes first 1000 second 5 crown 3 for greatest distance and youngest contestant. Entries due noon day of contest. Dance after with Midnight Moon Moths. Admission 35 cents contest and dance 25 dance only 20 contest only children.

A Fool and His Folly Bequests From Charles Vance Miller
The Toronto eccentric Charles Vance Miller left a series of odd bequests in his will. He names a business rival, an Edmonton acquaintance, several jockey club shares, a hostile parliament member, ministers in three towns, a Roman Catholic brewery to Protestants, and three business partners, with the final balance to the Toronto mother bearing the most children in the decade after his death.

Unlawful Handling of Meat and Seasonal Slaughter Permits
Regulations under the Public Health Act require licensed slaughter houses for meat sale. During December to February farmers may obtain free permits to slaughter their own animals for sale by carcass side or quarter if meat is handled cleanly. Mrs. R. N. Dunsmore Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. R. N. Dunsmore died at Brandon Hospital at 11 30 p m on Tuesday November 17 following long illness. She was highly respected and mourned by a large circle of friends. Survived by her husband Mayor Dunsmore and family. Funeral Friday at 2 30 pm in Rivers United Church.

Regular Rivers town council meeting presided by R G Sinclair notes adoption of prior minutes and Court of Revision. Resolutions authorize paying Electric Light $399.00 and General $50.71, a $400 monthly payment agreement with Mr Luchuck, renting Lot 18 Block 9 to E Goodeve for $300 monthly, renting a room in the bcean Block to Mir Brockie for storage, a $4000 rink shelter appropriation, and keeping skating fees at last year’s level.
