Rivers Club To Stage The Wild Oats Boy

The Rivers Community Club presents The Wild Oats Boy a three act comedy drama at ITOOF Hall on Friday evening November 13th The cast features many newcomers with a post show dance and music Admission 35 cents for show and dance 45 cents for show only 20 cents for children accompanying play only

Daly Rural Council Minutes Reported at Rivers Meeting

The Daly Rural Municipality council met at Rivers on November 3 with all members present led by Reeve J W Seater. They read the previous minutes, discussed grants to the Red Cross Society and Children’s Aid Society, considered old age pension for Lily Tanner, paid the Reeve and a councillor for duties, approved 1936 grants, and prepared the 1937 assessment roll after adjournment for the Court of Revision.

Nominations Drawn Proved Light Attendance at Rivers Meeting

Nominations at Rivers on Tuesday afternoon drew little interest from Daly and Rivers ratepayers. Reeve Senter said public servants may take comfort that voters are satisfied. John A. Dyer acted as Returning Officer for Daly. C. H. Gabe presided at Rivers. All terms were reelected by acclamation except Daly Ward 2 where H. M. Clark is opposed by H. J. Humphries. Ward 2 vote set for Friday November 20.

Reeve J. W. Seater spoke on ratepayer concerns in Daly followed by brief remarks from Councillors Seens Mc Donald Beatie Smith and Dobson. The document lists Ward level candidates for Daly Ward 2 3 5 and Rivers Ward 1 2 3 4 5 plus Rivers School Board nominees.

Boy Scout Troop to be Formed Here

A meeting at the home of Mr. G. B. Poole discussed forming a Scout Troop in Rivers. The group committee will include T. W. Offen, Mrs. N. Tivy, and Mrs. Harburn, with Rev. K J. Whiting named Scout Master and Vernal Poole as Cub Master.

Unlawful Handling of Meat Under Winter Slaughter Permits

The Public Health Act allows farmers to slaughter their own raised animals for sale during December February with a free permit. Meat may be sold by carcass side or quarter if handled cleanly and satisfactorily. This is issued by the Division of Food Control Department of Health and Public Welfare.

Amateur Night Contest and Dance Sponsored by Rivers Board of Trade

The Rivers Board of Trade hosts an Amateur Contest and Dance in the LOOF Bail on Friday November 20 at 745 p.m. The second annual event invites local and out-of-town talent in dramatics impersonations orchestras vocalists fiddlers and more. Prizes include 1000 for first 300 for greatest distance and 5 for second plus a youngest contestant award. Admission 35c for contest and dance 25c for dance only 20c for contest only. Rivers School Trustees Meet November 4 Minutes and Resolutions

Rivers School trustees met in the school with J T Bowman chairing. They adopted the prior minutes, approved paying accounts totaling 120 33, planned refunds of Grade XII fees above 450 00, received October reports from the Principal and Attendance Officer, and adjourned to December 1 at 8 pm.

Bankers accept housing loans under federal scheme at Minnedosa

Minnedosa banks began accepting applications for home improvement loans announced by the Finance Ministry some weeks ago. Bank managers received authority this week to consider applications, as reported by the Minnedosa Tribune. G Smithard of Stadwardine is named new CPR section foreman succeeding A Men toski. He has rented the vacant town residence and will move within days, per the Rapid City Reporter.
