A community hall event invites residents to dance on Wednesday March 14 with live music by the Nite Hawks of Virden. A night of dancing and socializing is planned for attendees.
A sizable congregation filled the United Church annex on Sunday evening for a special curlers service. Music by Alex Whyte Dorothy Taylor Alvin Setter and Lieut Watson accompanied Rev. F W Lee’s talk The Most Important Rock which drew life lessons from curling and the game’s progress The audience participated enthusiastically in the service led by J A McKenzie at the organ.
Mrs W M Harrison visited Kenton friends from Friday to Tuesday. Albert Wareham toured Winnipeg for two or three days. Mrs Wm B White and son Tommy returned from Ontario. Miss Islay McMannis returned from Ontario and Quebec. Mrs Louis Noxon of Cadiullac Sask arrived for a visit with her brother and sister in law Albert Madden. Miss Irene Manchus, nursing student, visited home. Chas Karlenzig and son Donald from Winnipeg visited relatives. B Schick auditing Rural Municipality of Daly and Town of Rivers. United Ladies Aid to hold a 20 cent St Patrick's Tea on March 17. Teen Town Ice Carnival attracted many. prizes awarded. Lantern Lecture on South East Asia by Rev W A Champness March 15 in St James Hall. Eric Cousins visiting Rivers from Winnipeg. Old-Time Dance March 9 by Hivers Masonic Lodge to aid Red Cross. Rivers Board of Trade Banquet March 22 at 7:30. guest Mr Herbert Cottingham on Farm Electrification. tickets from local merchants.
Citizens are urged to place tied parcels of paper on the street for pickup assist by cadets. Heavy cord is available at local stores with boxes for self service to helppak.
A regular Riv ers Branch of the CCF meeting is scheduled for Monday March 12 at 8 p m. in the Four Star Theatre JACK HAIN serves as secretary treasurer.
